Shining His Light on the supernatural world through His Word and His Spirit

A New Word from The Lord: Come out of the darkness. . .

Feb 25, 2023 by Scott R. Sullivan

We are in the end times. That’s a hard thing to consider and think about, isn’t it? We all have dreams, hopes, and desires for our lives, but when we see such darkness all over it can make us want to quit on all of those things. I know I’ve been tempted to think that way many times recently.

It can get downright depressing if you watch the news and listen to all that is happening in the world. You already know the list of calamities and troubles, so no sense having me tell you them again. Darkness is growing in people’s hearts and the enemy’s influence is expanding.

Don’t take a bite of the fruit of depression, the Lord has something to say…

In all seasons, but especially now as the times are growing darker we have to be wise guardians over the walls of our souls and of the soul’s we are responsible for or have influence over. Too many professing Christians walk with no spiritual discernment and they allow the enemy to easily breach their defenses. When we agree with the world and its perspective on things instead of hearing from the Holy Spirit and coming into agreement with The Word, we open our lives up to so much trouble.

Here is a inventory list to consider when giving thought towards the defenses around your soul:

  1. What movies are you watching or books you are reading, and what is the message they are conveying? Do they point you to this verse:   “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”—Philippians 4:8 NKJV

  1. What music are you listening to? Does it get your mind on things above? “My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed.”—Psalms 71:23 NKJV

  1. Do you turn your eyes from evil?  “And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.”—Matthew 18:9 NKJV

  1. Do you consider the words that leave your lips?  “But no man can tame the tongue. It  is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?”—James 3:8-11

That’s a hard list, but a life altering one to consider. I am human and fallible just like you, and have to humble myself before the Lord everyday so that I stay within His covering.

The enemy is cunning and he knows we cannot protect ourselves or those we care for when we are not in Christ’s covering and when our heart is not rightly aligned. Being prideful about our own way is so dangerous. We are to have a pure heart before Him and to stay under the shadow of His wings at all times. That’s where we can walk in His Power and not our own. On our own we are easily overcome. The enemy loves when we move in our own strength. We look like a young wildebeest, leaving the herd, walking freely by a pride of lions, thinking there is no danger.

As I was praying this week The Lord reminded me of how much life is buried in the ground right now awaiting the darkness of winter to lift so that the warm light of Spring can bring it forth. He reminded me that throughout all the coldest and darkest days of winter many seeds are waiting underground. New flowers are ready to bloom, new insects are ready to come to life, and new buds on trees are just anticipating their opportunity to open up in praise.

The Lord wants you to know that even in these cold, dark days, He is still ready to bring forth life from deep within, if our heart is surrendered ground ready to receive His rain.  He has goodness for you, dreams to give, hopes to answer, life to spring up, and purposes lay out. Surrender and repent of any wrongdoing, so that He can bring you out of darkness and into His calling for your life. He will fulfill His purposes whether in this earth, the Millennial Reign, or the new earth to come. He is already thinking about what He has for you 1000 years from now. Are you?

Never forget He is the Light of the world and our Great Hope and He Loves you deeper than the ocean and higher then the sky!

Much love,

Scott

“Hear a just cause, O Lord,

Attend to my cry;

Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips.

Let my vindication come from Your presence;

Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright.

You have tested my heart;

You have visited me in the night;

You have tried me and have found nothing;

I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Concerning the works of men,

By the word of Your lips,

I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer.

Uphold my steps in Your paths,

That my footsteps may not slip.

I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God;

Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.

Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand,

O You who save those who trust in  You

From those who rise up against  them.

Keep me as the apple of Your eye;

Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,

From the wicked who oppress me,”—Psalms 17:1-9 NKJV
